Handing was founded in 2012 and has over a decade of rod manufacturing experience. The company operates from an industrial park of 30,000 square meters in Weihai’s Huancui District, with 50,000 square meters of brand channel operation center, logistics and warehousing center, commodity operation center, and R&D and production center.
Its subsidiary, Handing Industrial Automation, established in 2021, focuses on non-standard automation equipment design, carbon fiber processing equipment, industrial robots, and logistics warehousing equipment. The team’s mission is to “enable the fishing gear industry to achieve intelligent manufacturing.”
Carbon Fiber Innovation
Parallel to the automation revolution, Weihai’s material science capabilities are also advancing rapidly. Guangwei, a major Weihai-based manufacturer, has been pushing the boundaries of carbon fiber rod technology.
Tan Chunlin, Guangwei’s vice general manager, describes the company’s approach: “By upgrading the grade of carbon fiber and optimizing the structure, the new product has 10 percent less in weight but 15 percent increase in strength.”
Guangwei launches more than 50 such iterative products every year, precisely targeting diversified demands across different markets and applications. This rapid pace of product iteration is characteristic of Weihai’s competitive rod manufacturing cluster, where manufacturers must continuously improve to maintain their positions.
