China Fish 2026 Report
Hanhigh returned to China Fish (BHDJZ) in February 2024 after the COVID hiatus. At China Fish 2026 (February 28–March 2, Beijing), Wang noted that while the show had noticeably fewer visitors than previous years, it remained a productive platform for Hanhigh.
“China Fish is still one of the biggest fishing trade shows in the world. It compares well with ICAST in the US and perhaps even has more exhibitors. In recent years the event has been affected by the worldwide economy and that has seen fewer and fewer people coming to Beijing. However, during the same time we have seen more manufacturers showing off their goods.”
On the global outlook:
“Generally speaking, there was not much optimism around. As news unfolded regarding the war in the Middle East during the show, people became more concerned about the economic prospects. The world is becoming more and more uncertain with rising inflation and tariffs. The weakness of the global market is a major challenge and it will take some time to recover.”
Despite the atmosphere, Hanhigh debuted new rod series for sea bass, Egi, Aji, spinning, and carp feeder fishing, plus a value-for-money line-up — all generating strong buyer interest.
“Our aim at China Fish is to bring new models to the market, meet new business contacts and link up with current customers and friends. Although numbers were down, we were successful in that.”
Wang emphasized that Hanhigh’s 30-year heritage and 20+ years of rod production expertise help build buyer trust: “Our wide range shows our development capability and the experience we have accumulated over many years. But more important is that buyers can see how carefully we pay attention to detail. That is what creates trust.”
Market Strategy
Owner Qian Gang Wang offered noteworthy observations on the industry:
“During the COVID period our business had to get used to different methods of communication through social media and outlets like WeChat.”
“China Fish has always been an important platform for us to show our products and demonstrate our ability and innovation. It is also an irreplaceable event at which we can communicate with our customers on a face-to-face basis.”
On the rise of Chinese brands in the international market, Wang commented:
“Many are only a brand in name. They have a long way to go if they want to enter the international market and it won’t be easy because the fishing sector is very regional and has different demands. To be a success on the international stage there has to be an understanding of those demands.”
“For sure the Chinese brands are coming!”
