Goofun Lures: Chinese Lure Manufacturer Targeting New Brands with Design-Led OEM Service
Chinese lure manufacturer Goofun is making a name for itself in the international OEM market — not through volume production, but through design-led service and flexible partnership models that appeal to emerging lure brands and distributors.
Founded by Sam Fu, Goofun has over ten years of experience in lure design, manufacturing efficiency, and supply-chain management. The company operates from its base in Guangdong Province, one of China’s key lure manufacturing hubs, and has been exhibiting at international trade shows including EFTTEX in Europe and China Fish in Beijing.
A Different Approach to OEM
What sets Goofun apart from many Chinese lure factories is its emphasis on design collaboration rather than pure production capacity. The company positions itself as a long-term partner rather than a volume-driven OEM supplier, and has structured its customer engagement to reflect that philosophy.
“We always want to work with customers who need quality lure production with excellent design and service, but also flexibility,” says Fu. “That means being able to customise MOQ, lead time, and supply-chain solutions for very different business models.”
The approach has yielded tangible results. After a pre-show offer at EFTTEX in Brussels, Goofun began working with five new international customers, with the first orders scheduled for delivery in early 2026. Other projects moved into sample testing or active production.
“For us, that is strong evidence,” Fu says. “Those customers came with real needs, and they trusted our service because they got exactly what they came for.”
Product Capabilities
Goofun’s product development workload includes a range of lure types across freshwater and saltwater applications:
- Vibration lures — featuring refined action and premium paint finishes
- Saltwater pencils — surface lures designed for coastal species
- Minnows — classic hard-body diving lures
- Trolling lures — high-speed offerings for offshore applications
The company uses 3D printing for rapid prototyping and design iteration, allowing faster development cycles than traditional mold-based approaches. This technology investment enables Goofun to move from concept to sample more quickly than many larger factories.
China Fish Engagement Strategy
For China Fish 2026, Goofun implemented an innovative approach to attracting serious buyers. The company offered a limited, appointment-only incentive: the first three companies to book pre-show appointments would receive three free lure design services, valued at €500 EUR each. Additional visitors who pre-booked meetings received a gift box of Goofun-produced lures.
Fu says the offer was designed to demonstrate Goofun’s capabilities before any commercial commitment is made. “We want customers to see what we can actually deliver. Design, speed and execution are what matter most to them.”
The strategy reflects a broader shift among Chinese lure manufacturers toward proactive, relationship-building approaches at trade shows, moving beyond passive booth displays to targeted engagement with qualified buyers.
Market Positioning
Goofun is particularly keen to work with new lure brands launching their first products, regional distributors seeking reliable supply partners, and online influencers developing branded lure lines. The company’s willingness to work with lower MOQs and adaptable lead times makes it accessible to businesses that larger factories may turn away.
“Goofun wants to be the trustworthy partner that helps them grow without worrying about the product itself,” Fu says.
