Yutuo launches 30-inch carbon ice rod for global lure anglers
Chinese rod maker Yutuo Fishing has added a 30-inch carbon ice fishing rod to its export lineup, positioning the lightweight blank-through-handle design to compete in the hot-selling hard-water category that has driven sustained order volume through online marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon.
Built on a graphite blank and rated at medium power with a 2.3oz rod weight, the new model reflects a construction approach that combines a slim carbon shaft with aluminum oxide guides and stainless steel frames. According to the company, the guide layout is engineered to keep line transitions smooth in sub-zero conditions, a recurring pain point raised by North American ice anglers when evaluating Asian-sourced rods.
Yutuo, based in the coastal manufacturing cluster that supplies much of the world’s ice tackle, has been steadily broadening its cold-weather offering as demand for portable, packable rods rises across the United States, Canada and the Nordic region. The 30-inch length places the product firmly in the ultra-short travel category favored by hard-water specialists who need gear that fits inside a five-gallon bucket.
Trade buyers tracking the segment note that the ice rod market remains one of the more resilient corners of the broader tackle trade, with e-commerce channels absorbing demand that traditional sporting goods retail has struggled to capture. Manufacturers able to deliver consistent blank action at competitive price points have continued to win shelf space on cross-border platforms despite tightening freight costs and shifting tariff regimes.
The company is pitching the rod to overseas distributors and private-label buyers as a turnkey SKU, with packaging, branding and UPC coding services available for volume orders. Stock is held in standard finishes, though Yutuo indicates that custom cosmetic upgrades and handle configurations can be accommodated for container-level commitments.
By zeroing in on weight reduction and guide durability — two attributes that consistently surface in buyer feedback on marketplace listings — Yutuo is betting that a refined, mid-priced carbon platform can carve out share in a category long dominated by North American legacy brands and a handful of established Asian competitors.
