Shenzhen's Dongborui expands carp tackle line for global buyers
Shenzhen Dongborui Outdoors Co., Ltd. has emerged as a focused supplier of carp fishing tackle, repositioning the company from a pure trading operation into an integrated manufacturer serving international buyers. Based in the southern Chinese export hub of Shenzhen, the firm is building its presence around two proprietary brands — Rigtrip and Rigcarp — and signalling a deeper commitment to the European-styled specimen and carp segment that has long dominated Western coarse-fishing markets.
The company traces its roots to the herabuna tackle trade, where it initially operated as a buyer and distributor of finished products. Several years ago, management began exploring the carp fishing category, drawn by the segment’s higher unit values and the willingness of overseas buyers to source complete rigs rather than individual components. From that pivot, Dongborui expanded into fishing accessories such as line aligners, beads and swivels — the small but technically demanding hardware that underpins modern carp presentations.
Industry observers note that Shenzhen remains a strategic base for companies pursuing the carp sector, thanks to its proximity to mould-making workshops in the Pearl River Delta, its concentration of CNC and plastic-injection capacity, and easy access to Shenzhen Yantian Port for container exports to Europe. Those conditions have enabled smaller manufacturers such as Dongborui to offer OEM and ODM services with relatively short lead times, an advantage that has grown in importance as European distributors look to consolidate suppliers.
For global buyers, the appeal of a Shenzhen-based specialist lies in the ability to bundle terminal tackle — hooks, swivels, lead clips, line aligners and beads — under a single purchase order, reducing logistics complexity and simplifying compliance documentation. Dongborui’s catalogue reflects this full-package approach, allowing retailers and wholesalers to source rig components alongside more finished items without splitting volume across multiple factories.
The shift into branded manufacturing also points to a wider trend across the Chinese tackle sector. As competition in commodity lure and spinning gear production intensifies, a growing number of suppliers in Guangdong, Weihai and Qingdao are pivoting toward category-specific niches where technical specification, finish quality and packaging carry more weight than raw price. Carp tackle, with its loyal European following and steady replacement demand, has become one of the most actively pursued of these niches.
For Dongborui, the next phase of growth is likely to focus on deepening its Rigcarp rig range and strengthening relationships with distributors in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland — the four largest carp tackle markets in Europe. With its Shenzhen manufacturing base and existing accessory lines already in production, the company is positioning itself as a one-stop partner for buyers looking to streamline their sourcing of technical carp terminal tackle from China.
